Thorne, D-10,000, 250 mcg (10,000 IU), 60 capsules

Product Description: Basic Health Strengthens Immune Supports Bone Health Gluten-Free SupplementHelps promote healthy bones and muscles, cardiovascular function and immune function.Vitamin D plays an important role throughout the entire lifespan, starting with fetal development. Unlike many vitamin D supplements, Thorne does not contain lactose or preservatives (BHA, BHT, sodium benzoate, etc.). Vitamin D protects several key functions in the body. Not only does it support healthy bones and muscles, it also helps improve cardiovascular health and immune function. Although direct sunlight provides natural vitamin D, many people of all ages, especially older adults, do not get enough vitamin D from sunlight and diet alone. In these cases, vitamin D supplements can be of great help. However, the powders used in many premixed vitamin D dilutions often contain preservatives such as BHT, BHA, sodium benzoate, and sorbic acid, as well as potentially harmful ingredients such as lactose. Thorne's Vitamin D is formulated for people with sensitivities to these ingredients. In the United States, a daily intake of 800 IU vitamin D is currently recommended, which is the minimum amount needed to prevent bone disease. However, upward revision of these guidelines is being considered in light of current research, particularly new research on immune function. This study suggests that serum vitamin D levels should be in the range of 32 to 80 ng/mL 25-hydroxy vitamin D. The amount of vitamin D needed to achieve the minimum vitamin D content (recognized as the normal blood level of 32 ng/mL 25-hydroxyvitamin D) depends on many factors and varies from person to person. Therefore, requirements for vitamin D supplementation should be individualized. D-1,000 or D-5,000 may be ideal for maintaining optimal levels of vitamin D in healthy people. D-10,000 is for people who need higher vitamin D supplementation, and D-25,000 is for people who need high-dose vitamin D supplementation for a short period of time.
